Papers for Discussion (GA Tech only)

MEETING TIME:

Wednesday, 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Rocky Mountain Pizza (1005 Hemphill Avenue NW, Atlanta)

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

The main objective of this course is to provide students with a venue to discuss current scientific literature. Each week, we will read a paper dealing with some aspect of active tectonics or geomorphology (both broadly defined). Members of the class will discuss the paper in an informal (i.e., while consuming adult beverages and pizza!) setting. This is a great way for students to stay on top of the literature and make certain they are reading important papers. Discussion topics and course content will be determined by the interests of the students.

COURSE COMMUNICATIONS:

You will receive weekly class information (i.e., paper(s) to read!) via email. Because this information may not be communicated in class, you should be sure to read these e-mail messages.  Please make sure the e-mail address you regularly use is the same as the one that is registered with Georgia Tech. I will use the e-mail addresses provided to me on the “T-Square” utility to post assignments, send e-mail, and facilitate discussion among those registered for this course. Papers will also be posted on T-Square.

GRADING:

Your grade will be based entirely on your participation in paper discussions.
